“Akhmeta Wine House" established in year 2014. Its small size, family based business, oriented on natural/organic wine production. We think that it's important to maximize the protection of the vineyard, grape and wine ecosystem, biodiversity, natural biological cycles and the biological processes. Nowadays we are beneficiary of Natural Wine Association (www.nwa.ge) and CAUCASCERT , only one Georgian company, which offers its customers certification of organic products. Their certificate is legally recognized in Georgia, European Union and Switzerland. By the year 2019 we will present officially certified Bio wines to our customers. (http://caucascert.ge/en/operators/operators-register) Akhmeta is distinguished by a remarkable micro climate ensuring perfect grape ripening conditions; “Rkatsiteli”, “Mtsvane Kakhuri” and “Saperavi”. Our vineyards are located at the junction of 3 rivers -Ilto, Alazani and Orvili. At the year of 2016 "Saperavi", "Khikhvi" and "Kisi" varieties are planted at the terroir of Alaverdi Monastery. Our vineyards are managed in full compliance with the principles of organic grape-growing in Akhmeta district of Kakheti region. At the end October grapes were hand-harvested in small boxes, hand sorted in our MARANI , lightly crushed into historical Georgian clay vessels QVEVRI buried in the winery's earthen floor. The fermentation was performed by natural yeast, found on grape skin. After the long, up to 6 month maceration, the wine decanted and transferred into another QVEVRI for aging. The wine is bottled unfiltered. Our wine is reach with phenol compounds and tannins. It’s characterized by high antioxidant properties due to the specific Georgian technology of QVEVRI making. Our unfiltered wines united under the brand "AKHMETA’s wine house". Wines are distributed to USA and Japan.
